About MeOnce described as “The Textile Florist,” my work pays homage to my mother’s floristry career and the charm of her cottage garden. I create delicate textile compositions where stitched flowers and foliage intertwine, celebrating the beauty of nature through thread and fabric.
As a textile and embroidery artist, my practice explores texture, layering, and intricate surfaces through contemporary hand embroidery and surface design. Inspired by the quiet beauty of natural forms—flaky walls, wild overgrown meadows, and whimsical botanicals—I am drawn to ethereal hues and soft, subtle colour palettes. Through the use of heavily embellished layers, I create tactile, detailed works that evoke the freshness of spring and the serenity of the countryside. With a background in fine art, ceramics, and textiles, I merge heavy textures, fine stitching, and painted surfaces, blending multiple mediums to create pieces rich in depth and detail. |
Background
I studied Fine Art at Leeds College of Art and Design and Contemporary Applied Arts at The University of Cumbria, graduating with a First Class BA (Hons) specialising in embroidery, printed textiles, and ceramics. Since then, I’ve had the privilege of exhibiting and creating bespoke, commissioned pieces for clients around the world, with my work featured in books and international publications.
Alongside my studio practice, I run day workshops and talks across the UK and offer online sessions worldwide, sharing my passion for textiles, mixed media, and hand embroidery with others who love to create.
I have also established two dedicated textile groups who meet on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, three times a year, for five-week courses. These groups were inspired by my own creative education and my desire to share a wide range of artistic practices and techniques with others.
